Goa Tour Packages

Wednesday, May 4, 2011

A tour of Goa is not possible in a day. A realistic chance of discovering Goa would ideally take about a weeks time as Goa is not only about the beaches but there is more to Goa’s side than the Goan sandy shores. A tour of Goa would therefore not be complete by a mere visit to the Goa beach or the entire Goan coastline where the Goan beaches line up one after the other.

green goaGoa tour packages are however designed for a day in most cases as tourists vising Goa have a shortage of time and would like to see the best of Goa within around 8 hours flat. It is not possible to showcase Goa in such a short time but tour operators in Goa normally do their best to provide the avid traveller with a capsule of Goa’s beauty in 8 hours.

However Goa would be incomplete without the hinterland of Goa which has the beauty of Goa within its lush open fields, green verdant vegetation, beautiful hilly sides, gurgling springs, beautiful rivers, ancient temples, Portuguese churches, articulate Goan cuisine, rich Goan culture and Goan traditions and lifestyles.

Boat cruising on the Mandovi is a favorite among tourists who visit Goa for the first time and is often part of the Goa tour packages. However this activity is more of a closeted entertainment rather than a tour of Goa and cannot be actually part of a true Goa tour package. It is mostly undertaken in the evenings when it is dark and in this, people are lost in dancing on the cruise boats to bollywood music rather than enjoying the view of the coastline. Boat cruising in Goa should therefore be undertaken in the day when people can actually marvel at the Goan riversides and mangroves and admire the beauty of Goa.

Goa tour packages should actually showcase the true Goa and show all of Goa’s inherent beauty, Goa’s essence, Goa’s historically significant places, Goa’s great people, Goa’s existence as an independent state and its origins, Goa’s museums, artefacts etc.

Goa is rich in its temples and churches which are endowed with beautiful architecture and this needs to be shown to tourists in rotation. Goa tour packages should rotate the churches and temples that they show tourists so that the same monuments are not shown repeatedly as Goa is abundant in temples , churches and other monuments.

Goa tourism department to explore new tourists

Monday, May 2, 2011

In their bid to tap the dormant tourism potential of Goa, the tourism department of the state is considering several options to re-invigorate the state's ability to attract tourists to Goa not only from all over the globe but also from the rest of India which is also considered as an option to woo domestic tourists to Goa.

The concept of promoting Goa as a wedding destination has taken favour as it has been observed that there are scores of tourists who get married in India and some are getting married in Goa. However there is no organised system by the government to tap this potential. Many NRIs have also been attracted to Goa as a wedding destination.
The tourism department of Goa has therefore conducted some road shows in the United states while releasing CDs which target NRIs to visit Goa. There is also a conscious desire to tap tourists from the United States. However this idea is expected to be deliberated further as there is plenty for the US tourist to choose in tourism from all over the world and against such competition, Goa needs to strategise carefully.

Advertising in the electronic media to promote Goa tourism has therefore taken steam and various cities in India are being identified to spread the tourism bug among middle class and higher middle class sections from the Indian tourists. It has been observed that Goa has already developed as a weekend destination for tourists from major cities of Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore etc who frequent to Goa on weekends and public holidays making it their favourite haunt for a speedy quick getaway. However, similar popularity has not caught up with second tier cities of India which is being identified as a prospective avenue for Goa tourism .

The tourism department of Goa will therefore undertake major advertisement campaigns in the rest of India to promote Goa especially in regional newpapers of the country to showcase the Goan spirit among the rest of Indians while understanding the need of tapping the Indian tourist who is continuously evolving as a major customer in the ever growing economy of India .

Tourism in Goa - Department to pull up its socks

In a bid to give a boost to tourism in Goa, the Goa tourism department has decided to change its marketing strategy and promote Goa on a different scale to ensure that the state does not lose out to rising competition in the tourism industry.

The ride for the state of Goa in tourism was a pretty smooth one for many decades and the government of Goa had to do precious little to promote Goa as a tourist destination and the mere strength of Goa's beauty was its own marketing tool. However with rising competition, the Goa tourism department has finally woken up to the fact that if unattended, the tourism industry in Goa could get badly hit and miss out on the various opportunities which are available should the Goa government tap them.

The awakening has also been triggered by the fact that there has been a decline in the flow of tourists to Goa for the last few years which has made the department of tourism realise that all is not well. While the number of tourists from the United Kingdom who visited Goa in 2007-2008 was roughly around 1 lakh, the figure was cut by half for the year 2009-2010. The case was no different with figures of tourists for other European countries such as Finland, Italy, Denmark and Switzerland heading for Goa. However tourists from Russia favouring Goa as a tourist destination had increased.

The Goa tourism department has therefore decided to promote Goa on new frontiers and countries such as Japan, Germany, Scandinavian countries and Nordic countries besides the UK are expected to be given special attention. There is also a proposal to market Goa as a wedding destination. The change in the strategy is aimed at attracting tourists who have high spending capacities, to the land of sun, sea and sand, Goa .

Goa beach

Friday, April 29, 2011

Goa is naturally endowed with greenery and plenty of sun sand and the sea. When all these are put together with the blue waters of the sea, one could find oneself on a virgin strip of Goan shores more commonly identified as the Goa beach.

A Portuguese colony for over 450 years, Goa has its fame in its Indo-Portuguese architecture, Indo-western fusion of culture and a delectable mix of Goan cuisine which has imbibed a lot of Portuguese influences. However what stands out as a clear attraction of entertainment all year round are the goan beaches which offer a pure sandy Goan touch to a Goa bound holiday.

Goa is blessed with golden beaches all along its coastline and have hosted lakhs of palm trees which tower over the coast like a decoration along the beach. While many beaches of Goa have attained their fame due to their popularity over the ages, nowadays almost the entire coastline of Goa is a much wanted piece of land for the hospitality industry. Goa beach is therefore no longer restricted to the famous Calangute beach in the North or the Colva beach in the south, but is now spread across the entire stretch of land kissing the Goan coastline.

During summer the more popular beaches are besieged with tourists who swamp the coast and can be seen from a sky view as flock of bees on the Goa beach. With beach activites and water sports in full flow on many Goan beaches, the popularity of these tourist attractions have soared and it is proving to be a great draw for everyone.

When you are immersed in a vacation in Goa and find yourself on a Goan beach the feeling of the soft sand of the beach immersing your feet inside it can immediately transmit the warmth ofg Goa and make you feel at peace with yourself and can prolong a holiday to enjoy Goa to the best.
