Indien Goa

For Goans and Indians , India would be spelt with an “a” at the end. But for many other countries like Denmark, Sweden or Germany, India is pronounced as Indien. So while addressing Goa as a part of India, it is often quoted as “Indien Goa” in these countries.

While referring to “Indien Goa” it is often termed as the “pearl of the east” and is envied for its sandy beaches and lush palm groves. In Indien goa you mainly sunbathe, swim and party as most of the websites of these countries would like to put it in their own respective languages. Goa is listed as a small green westernized territory on the west of the Indien coast.

Many among these countries believe that Goa has the best beaches but lament that some of them are getting too crowded and the pristine nature of Indien Goa is what actually endears them to this holiday destination. However they prefer the serenity of the beaches of south Goa.

Goa is considered in most of the western countries to be one of the youngest members of Independent India and known to be Portuguese controlled until 1961. Goa being a Portuguese colony for over 400 years has marked in its lifestyle in several ways and Indien Goa still carries much of the Portuguese flavour in its cuisine, cultural bonds etc.Between 40 and 50% of the inhabitants of Indien goa are known to be Christians, especially the ones bordering the coastal areas of Goa.
